Steven Patton

August 4, 1963 — August 18, 2021

Fairfax

Steven Ray Patton, age 58, of Fairfax, Oklahoma left us peacefully Wednesday, August 18, 2021 to be with the Lord. He passed from complications related to his epilepsy.

He was born at 8:20 in the evening on Sunday, August 4th, 1963 in the Pawnee Municipal Hospital to Helen Wanitta (Smith) and Frank Patton. Weighing in at 9 pounds, 8 ounces he was 20 inches long and welcomed home in rural Pawnee County. Steven was the last child born to Helen Patton, having seven siblings. The family lived in rural Pawnee before making their home in Fairfax. Steven attended Fairfax Public School System where he became known simply as “Steve.”

On January 4, 1982 he entered the Army National Guard in Fairfax. A member of the “War Dogs,”  Detachment 1, 1st Platoon, A company, 1-179 Infantry, he was honorably discharged in 1994. During his twelve years’ service to his country, he spent one weekend a month attending training at the old national guard armory where his fellow military members would become life-long friends.

LaSinda Garner, a young girl visiting Fairfax, caught his attention in the late 80’s. Steve and his best friend LaSinda were married by Pastor Laverne Money on Thursday, April 1, 1993 in Ponca City. They made their first home in Ponca for a few years before returning to Fairfax. The couple was blessed with two children a son Steve, and a daughter LaTrinda Patton. Steve spent the rest of his days in his hometown “Fairfax.”

In his early years, Steve worked as a Roustabout on oil rigs around the area. He also held various other jobs. More recently, he could be found mowing lawns and had helped several people with their other lawn work as well.

Steve was a loving husband, as a proud and overprotective father, his most loved titled was answering to those who called him “Dad.” A gentle and affectionate son, a faithful brother, and kind brother-in-law to many. He was a strong and caring uncle, and if you were one of the lucky ones who called him friend, you knew how fun and awesome he was. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 28 years LaSinda; son Steve and daughter LaTrinda; sister Sue Kendrick and family; brother Frank (Donna) Patton and family; sister Nancy McConnell and family; multiple nieces and nephews, former army buddies, and a host of forever friends.

He was welcomed to Heaven by his parents, Frank and Helen; three sisters: Helen Frazier, Brenda McDaniel, and Vicky Kitchel; and a brother Donald Sharp Jr.

The family has chosen cremation under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home. To leave a condolence or encouraging word visit:  www.hunsakerwootenfuneralhome.com
