Bonnie Cox

Fairland, Okla.

Bonnie B Cox passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 30, 2022.  She was 90 years of age.  Bonnie was born May 23, 1932 in Chinook Montana, the youngest of six children born to Iola and Max Blatt.

Bonnie was 1950 graduate of Chinook Montana High School.  She joined the  Women’s Air force (WAF) immediately following graduation.  While in the WAF Bonnie served in the Special Investigation Unit in Wiesbaden Germany  serving the rank of Staff Sergeant before her honorary discharge in 1954.

Bonnie was employee by Kansas State Civil Service and Pittsburg Kansas State University while completing a Bachelor of Education degree in 1962.  She accepted a position as Registrar and Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at Labette County Community HS in Altamont Kansas.

In 1964 Bonnie accepted a position at Independence KS community college as office education with the construction of a Community College Building.  She continued employment with the college in Office Education instruction until her retirement in 1997. In addition she earned a BS special Education from PSU Pittsburg Kansas.

Bonnie married Joseph Leonard Cox Sr. on March 08, 1968.

Bonnie, Leonard and Jesse Wayne moved to Fairland Ok on Grand Lake where she resided until 2021 when she moved to Lawton Ok until her death.

Bonnie enjoyed sharing gardening and fishing for over 48 years with Leonard until his death in 2016.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother, father, 4 sisters and one brother, her husband Leonard and two grandsons, Jesse Wayne Cox and JLC the 3rd.

Bonnie is survived by Nephew Mark Cox and Niece Marla of Lawton Ok, Tim Cox and wife Diana of Ralston Ok, and Tom Cox of Stillwater, Ok., numerous nieces and nephews as well as Leonards 4 children Joe Jr., Cecil, Sonya and Cheryl along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

It was Bonnies wish that she be cremated and her remains placed beside her husband Leonard at the Fairfax cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.
