Willis Hood

Willis Lee Hood was healed and made whole when she passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord at 6:15 pm, Sunday evening, June 20, 2021, after 89 years on this Earth. Born at the family homestead in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, she formerly resided in Fairfax, Okla., California, and currently lived in Ponca City.

She was born Sunday, March 27, 1932, a daughter of the late Leo B. Gann and Maudie Belle (Scott) Gann, Willis was one of eight children. She attended Sallisaw School system until the family moved to Fairfax in 1943 where she continued her education.

Willis first married Louis Bradsher and together they established their first home in Arizona. After they divorced, she met the love of her life Enoch E. Linder, and they married on April 10, 1952, eventually the family returned to Fairfax in 1965. They shared over 20 years of life together before Enoch’s passing in 1974. She found love again in 1979 and married Robert Cooper, and they made Fairfax their home. After Bob’s passing, she later married Earnest Hood on July 4, 2004, and the couple shared eleven blessed years before Earnest passed in January 2016. Willis lived on Circle drive for several years before moving to Ponca City. Willis lived at the Ponca Nursing & Rehab Center at the time of her passing.

Willis was one of the “ The Meat Pie of the AG, ladies Church group, who raised funds to help pay for the new church building. They would make delicious meat pies and sell them to the community every Thursday and Friday.  She would often talk about the advanced orders that were called in so they knew how many to make and not waste anything, because they must be sold fresh!

She worked for a decade at the Fairfax Nursing Home on Eighth Street as a Nurse Aid. Willis also worked at the Senior Citizens on Harrison Street. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling with her husband, enjoying a meal at the Senior Citizens with friends, and quilting, especially for her family. She gifted the treasured quilts to her grandchildren and children. Willis was an active member of the Fairfax Assembly of God Church for many years.

She leaves behind, a son, Herman D. Linder of Wolf Point, Mont., and a daughter Marty Linder Haub of Ponca City, Okla.; thirteen adored grandchildren and twenty-nine dear great-grandchildren; plus, multiple nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

Willis joins in heaven her parents, Leo and Maudie; four husbands; three sons, Leroy Bradsher, Royce Bradsher and Charles Linder; two brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will begin 10 am Friday, June 25 with the family present from 4pm to 6pm at the Hunsaker Wooten Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, June 26 at the Fairfax First Assembly of God Church on State Highway 18 with Pastor Jay Clapp officiant. Burial will immediately follow at the Fairfax City Cemetery where Willis will be laid to rest beside her husband Enoch Linder.

Pall bearers are her grandchildren: Lisa Rhynes, Netta Linder, Norman Bradsher, Phillip Brotherton, Josh Brotherton, Ryan Bradsher, and Cody Barnett. Honorary bearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Fairfax Assembly of God, 4308 State Highway, Fairfax, OK.
