William Felix “Sonny” Jump age 87, a lifelong resident of Fairfax, Oklahoma passed away Thursday October 15th at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home with his loving wife Dee Dee by his side.
Sonny was born January 5th, 1933 in Fairfax, OK. He was the son of William Lones and Maud (Shell) Jump. Sonny was the oldest child of 3. He had 2 younger sisters, Mary Jo Hendrix, and Billie Ponca.
Sonny spent many hours at the family's roller rink. He attended Fairfax H.S and in his senior year as an Eagle Scout he attended the Boy Scout Jamboree to hear President Truman speak. Sonny graduated as a proud "Red Devil" in the Class of 1952 and was then drafted into the U.S Army. He served from 1953 to 1955 at Ft. Hood Tx during the Korean War. During that period Sonny was selected as an honor guard for President Eisenhower before being honorably discharged.
On October 15th, 1966 Sonny married the love of his life Daphne (Dee Dee) Tilton Jump. Sonny was an over the road truck driver for numerous years. Many of those years with Jump's Trucking, his family owned business.
Sonny loved his family, and he loved his country. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, country music, and watching OU Football. He never met a stranger. He attended Full Gospel Assembly.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Ryan Shane Martin and brother in law Cleo D (Runt) Hendrix.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Dee Dee. Four children, Jan Willaford, sons Bill (Kandy) Jump, Scott (Kathy) Jump and Sam Martin. Granddaughter Andreia Bissell and companion Brad Hamman. 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a special granddaughter, Hailey Bissell (the apple of Sonny's eye). Also survived by his sisters Mary Jo Hendrix and Billie Ponca and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home in Fairfax, OK. A graveside service will be held Friday November 6th, 2020 at 10:30 am at The Fairfax City Cemetery with Brother Lewis Bernard presiding.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairfax Memorial Hospital for the loving care Sonny received. We would also like to thank the Fairfax Nursing home during his brief stay there.
