Ollie Mae "Red" Bayird, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was 85 years of age.

Red was born November 28, 1929 at Apperson, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roscoe Johnson and Cora (Christy) Johnson. She had attended the Burbank school. She was married to Carl "Pete" Bayird on October 27, 1946 in Sedan, Kansas. The couple moved to the Fairfax community in 1943. Red was employed some 37 years with the Munsingwear Plant in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Fairfax. She loved and enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers, her church activities and working crossword puzzles. Red was known as a hard worker, having worked alongside her husband Pete in his bull dozer business for several years.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Bayird and wife Linda, of Wagoner, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Trina Kennedy and husband Johnny, of Wagoner and Brandon Bayird and wife Krissy, also of Wagoner; four great grandchildren, Rylie Bayird, Kaleb Bayird, Jacob Niceley and Corey Niceley; two step-great grandchildren, Kendra Deaton and Buck Kennedy; one sister, Dorothy Rehorne and husband Henry, of Mannford, Oklahoma and one brother, Roscoe "Rusty" Johnson and wife Lynette, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews Robert, Beverly, Barbara, Merlene and Phil; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete, on April 17, 2005; sister Clarene Brotherton; brother Raymond Johnson and brother-in-law Bobby Joe "Cobb" Bayird.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Fairfax First Christian Church with Rev. George Weston presiding. Interment will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.

Casket bearers are Larry Dooley, Terry Dooley, Johnny Ray Shipman, Byron Staples, Clinton Staples and Russell Staples.
