Lester Keeler

Lester (Les) Verlin Keeler was born June 1, 1936, at home in the Big Bend of Osage County, Ok. To Forrest and Deloris Douglass Keeler, He was the eldest of 6 children. His paternal grandparents were Charles and Rebecca Keeler, and maternal grandparents were John and Clara Douglass.

He and Carolyn Ranzau were married in 1958 in Ponca City, OK. Shortly thereafter they moved to Kansas where their 4 children Chuck, Becky, Kathleen, and Robin were born. They later adopted two of their grandchildren, Miranda, and Natasha. In 1979 the family moved to Sand Springs, Ok. where he worked for Cust-O-Fab 25 years, retiring in 1999 and moving to Fairfax Ok. Les was a strong and active supporter of the Grayhorse Masonic Lodge and Akdar Shrine. His hobby was guns, and he was very knowledgeable about them, especially Winchesters. He participated in gun shows for 35 years. Twice a year he manned a table at the Wanenmacher’s Gun Show in Tulsa, the largest in the world. He made many lifelong friends while doing that. On April 10, 2010, he, and Lu Kothe Skillern were married and settled outside Newkirk, Ok. Although their life together was short it was filled with laughter and love. Les was a kind, giving, fun loving and great son, brother, father, Poppy, and friend to so many. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Lu; son, Chuck Keeler and wife Tanya; daughters, Becky Diaz, Kathleen Laureles, Miranda Graham and husband Gabe, and Natasha Bush; grandchildren, Lindsey Covington and husband John, Mikael Swem, Shelby Keeler Schulte and husband Jimmy, and “special granddaughter” Mariah Waters; 10 great grandchildren, James, Dray, Dayson, Aiden, Emma, Iris, Hazel, Layla, Bryce, and Aoife; brothers and sister, Clifford Keeler and wife Bonnie, Frosty Keeler and wife Nancy, Sylvester Keeler and wife Jo Adelle, Neoma Keeler-Culp and husband Frank, Berry Keeler and wife Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, infant brother Charles Keeler, and his daughter Robin Keeler Elliott.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2 at 2pm at the First Christian Church of Fairfax with Pastor Russell Hughes officiating. Interment to follow in the Pixley Cemetery, visitation will be Monday, November 1, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax. Masonic Rites will be by the Grayhorse Masonic Lodge #124 of Fairfax.

Pallbearers: Terry Dooley, Larry Dooley, Gabe Graham, Mikael Swem, James Graham, and Dray Long.

Honorary Pallbearers: Clifford Keeler, Frosty Keeler, Sylvester Keeler, Berry Keeler, Frank Culp, and Larry Kothe.
