Everett Widener

February 12, 1951 — September 20, 2021

Ralston

Everett Virgil Widener, Jr., age 70, peacefully began his spiritual journey to Heaven on Monday evening, September 20, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones here on earth.

He was born on February 12, 1951 in Pawhuska, Okla. the oldest son of parents Everett Virgil and Mary Louise (Johnson) Widener, Sr. He grew up and attended schools in Wynona, where he was known as “little Everett.” He was a proud member of his High School graduating class of 1969. He furthered his education with college courses in the insurance field which would become his life’s work.

Everett married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Royster on December 16, 1971 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. They established their first home in Ralston and continued living in Ralston the remainder of his days. The couple was blessed with three beautiful and awesome daughters who were the pride and joy of his life.

In 2016 he retired from his life-long work in the insurance business after owning and operating agencies in Fairfax and later Pawnee Oklahoma. He established Widener Insurance in its present location in 1986, serving the public for 30 years at this location. Sandy assisted him for many of those years. In 1989, he opened the Pawnee office, adding his mom to the work crew. He was a hardworking dedicated father to his children.

In his younger years, Everett could be found spending time with his family and watching basketball or the grandkids participating in their school activities. He was active as a basketball referee traveling around the state in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Everett taught the intermediate boys Sunday School class at Ralston First Baptist Church where he was a member. As time went on, he also enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and how about those OU football games?  Go Sooners!

He will be warmly remembered by his loving wife Sandy of the home; one daughter Tara and husband K.C. Porter; his dear mother Marylou; one grandson Nolan Bratton of the home; four more grandsons: Levi, Landon, Lane, and Ladd Porter all of Ralston; a niece Crystal Widener and daughter Mychal of Stillwater; and a host of wonderful neighbors as well as many satisfied customers through the years who were great friends.

Those greeting him in heaven include his father Everett, Sr.; a brother Michael Widener; a sister Dema Turgeon; two daughters, Shannon Bratton and Diana Widener; and a nephew Michael Widener, Jr.

Visitation will be Sunday, 1pm – 5pm and Monday, 10am – 4pm, September 26 & 27 at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home Chapel, 201 N 4th Street, Fairfax.
