Charles Hensley

C. Dwain Hensley, age 80, beloved husband, cherished father, devoted grandfather, brother, and fierce friend passed from this life on October 7, 2021. He entered this world on April 17, 1941 at Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, born to Manuel and Teresa (Young) Hensley. A miraculous survivor of the Polio epidemic in the 1950s, he married Dottie Z. (Parker) Hensley on February 13, 1965 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax, Oklahoma. They were married for 56 years. He died in her loving arms at their home in Fairfax. He is survived by his wife Dottie, children: Amelia Hensley, Jennifer Hensley, Charles R. and Jennifer LeAnn Hensley, and James and Bonnie Hensley. His grandchildren were a constant joy to him: Zoe, Katie, & Gracie Nichols, Teresa and Charles M. Hensley, and Skyler & Owen Hensley. He will be honored and missed by his brother, Jeff Hensley and sister-in-law Rhonda, a niece and numerous nephews, cousins and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear sister: Colleen (Hensley) Brown. Dwain began working as a school bus driver when he was only 16 years old. He loved his work as a camera man and sometime tv star at WKY televsion in Oklahoma City; he worked for Halliburton Well Services and later for Urban Energy eventually owning and operating his own oil company: Dot Energy. He continued as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor until nearly the end of his life. Dwain served in the Air National Guard in the mid 1960s. No father ever worked harder or took better care of his family. He maintained an incredibly close relationship with his grandchildren and they all adored him. He enjoyed horses, music and singing, and fishing with his grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax, Ok. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church in his name.
