Bernie Lee

January 15, 1947 — January 15, 2021

Ralston

Bernie Ray Lee heard God calling and the angels singing “Happy Birthday” as he entered heaven the afternoon of his 74th birthday, Friday, January 15, 2021 while a resident in the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home, Fairfax, Oklahoma. We can’t help but imagine it was one of his greatest birthdays ever when his was greeted at the pearly gates.

He was born in Alvin, Texas on Wednesday, January 15, 1947 to parents Bennie Homer Lee, Sr., and Rosa Lee (Brandon) Lee.  Bernie, one of four sons, first attended school in Salzburg, Austria where his dad was stationed with the military.  Being a military family, they moved often during Bernie’s school days including what is now Santa Fe, Texas; Fort Hood, Texas; and El Paso, Texas.

Bernie volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1964 before going on with his life. He took pride in his service during the Vietnam conflict, serving in Germany and Italy. During this time, he drove transport trucks before being honorably discharged in 1967.

For 25 plus years Bernie worked as an over the road truck driver for numerous trucking companies, driving over the 48 contiguous states and in Canada. He earned a Million Mile plaque working for Davis Transport. In 2006, he moved to Ralston, Okla. where he began working as a Pipeline Stringing truck driver with a company in Colorado for the next six years

He leaves behind his pride and joy son Randall Lee; brothers: Bennie Lee, Felix Lee, and James Lee; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home, 201 N. 4th Street, Fairfax on Wednesday January 20, 2021 from 10:00am until 4:00pm with the current limitations of gatherings masks are requested.

A graveside service will be held 10:00am Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
