Abbie Anderson

August 9, 1925 — March 17, 2017

Fairfax

AnnaLeatha Abernathy (Fleming) Anderson, affectionately known as "Abbie" to those who knew her, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, March 17, 2017 with her beloved daughter by her side. Heaven gained a very special angel that morning as she loved going to church, singing praises and worshiping the Lord. She was 91.

Abbie was born on August 9, 1925 in Depew, OK to Whit and Nettie Fleming. She grew up in the Depew and Bristow area, where she attended school and graduated high school. In 1964, she moved to Fairfax, Oklahoma.

She attended Sweet Home Baptist Church and in later years was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly. She enjoyed dressing in her "Sunday best" and wearing her hats to church.

Abbie worked at Jewel's Spot Bargain, Blucher Boot and the donut shops in downtown Fairfax until their closing. Later, she was a private caregiver. She loved her family and friends dearly, had a heart of gold and was always ready to help.

Every August, Abbie looked forward to celebrating her birthday as family and friends would routinely descend on Fairfax for a BBQ cook-out and time of visiting. Her sisters, nieces and nephews came from out-of-state (near and far) for years until she was in her 80's.

She spent many days caring and cooking for her family, sewing, working in her garden, canning fruit and vegetables, planting flowers, and riding her bicycle to town. Often times, Abbie could be heard singing hymns or quietly humming them as she worked in her home.

In 2010, Abbie moved in with her daughter Verna for health reasons. Then, two years ago, Abbie went to live in the Fairfax Manor where she resided until her death.

She leaves to treasure her memory two sons, Truman Jones of Cushing OK and Russell Hayes of Fairfax; three daughters, Littie Ann Jones of Oilton, OK, Evelyn Martin of Huntsville, AL and Verna Goldsmith of Fairfax; one sister, Lorene Harper of Los Angeles, CA; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends in the Fairfax area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Johnny Jones, Archie Hayes and Sam Anderson; grandson, Jedediah Goldsmith; seven sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Full Gospel Assembly with Reverend Lewis Bernard officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.

Pall bearers will include her nephews; Royce Thompson, James Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Gene Rowe and Roosevelt Glasper.
