Wanda J. Lytle

July 16, 1946 — April 6, 2026

Wanda Jean Lytle, aged 79, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on April 6, 2026.

Wanda was born in Oolagah, Oklahoma, on July 16, 1946, to Theodore and Juanita (Gambler) McKinney. She had two younger brothers that she loved dearly, Theodore (Chief) McKinney Jr., and Richard Paul McKinney.

She attended elementary school in Grayhorse, Oklahoma, before moving to Fairfax, where she proudly graduated with the Red Devil Class of 1964.

Wanda married her husband of 34 years, James Lytle, on October 24, 1964. They planted roots in Fairfax, Oklahoma, where they raised their four children, Sheila, Doug, Brian, and Holly.

Wanda’s greatest love was her family, who she cherished and took care of all of her life. She was an incredible cook, and a very talented seamstress. She was a lifelong Sooner fan and had recently become an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce could do no wrong in her eyes. She was the DIY Queen, and could fix, build, mend, and repair just about anything; her independent spirit was never dampened.

She was the absolute center of her family’s world and the glue that held them all together. Life was not always easy for her, but she never failed to show up for those she loved. She was selfless, she was steady, and she was spectacularly kind. A more beautiful person, you wouldn’t find.

She is immensely loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Sheila Fine and Holly Lytle, her son, Brian (Sondra) Lytle; her grandchildren, Tasha (Jason) Ware, Justin Lytle, Hayley (J Berry III) Harrison, Megan (Garrett) Caldwell, and Madison (Matt) Warnock; her great-grandchildren, Braylee Ware, Parker Ware, Levi Ware, Kyle Lytle, John Lytle, Michael Lytle, Harper Harrison, Berry Beth Harrison, Jaxon Caldwell, Braxton Caldwell, and Colt Warnock. As well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Juanita McKinney; her husband, James Lytle; her son Doug Lytle; her grandson, Jamie Lytle; and great-granddaughter, Keylee Lytle.

Arrangements are being handled by Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home, Fairfax. Wanda’s online guest book may be signed at: www.hunsakerwootenfuneralhome.com
