Roy Goad, Jr.

Roy Francis Goad Jr., longtime Fairfax resident passed away Friday September 25, 2015 in Fairfax. He was 78 years of age.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday October 2, 2015 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.

Roy was born on March 5,, 1937 in the Bend of Osage County. He was the son of Roy Francis Goad Sr. and Tima Shan (Womack) Goad. He attended high school at St. Gregory's High School in Shawnee and later attended St. Gregory's College.

Roy and Jeanith raised their three children on a 750 acre ranch nine miles west of Fairfax. Although Roy was an only child, his door was always open to family and friends. Among them were many strong nephews to help him with chores, most of whom still called him "Dad" or "Uncle Roy" until his death.

Roy worked for the Conoco refinery in Ponca City, retiring as a foreman after 24 years. He spent much of his life around race horses and horse trainers. He worked part time as a horse trainer until his retirement and then going full time training quarter horses. He also worked for 15 years with the Osage Nation and assisted with making the bylaws for the newly formed tax commission.

In 1989 he met his love Diana Rae Petty, and they were together until her death on July 6, 1993. His constant companion for many years was his beloved dog Wimpy.

Survivors include three children, Janenna Goad, Anthony Goad and Gregory Goad; eight grandchildren, Craig, Kori, Kyle, Kiri, Colton, Cheyene, Kourtney and Cody.
