Ramona Correne (Renfro) Brown, age 82 years, 11 months and 10 days, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away on December 26, 2018 in her home, in her bed, where she most wanted to be at the end.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 1, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home, 201 N. 4th Street, in Fairfax, Oklahoma.

Ramona was born in Ralston, Oklahoma to Marshel and Blanche (Douglass) Renfro on January 17, 1936. She was referred to as "Sis" by her family from the start, as she had two big brothers. She went to school in Ralston, graduating in 1954. In February 1956, Ramona married Gerald Glenn Nix. To this union, one child was born, Janet Ann (Nix) Cave.

On July 25, 1962, Ramona married Dewey Juan Brown and inherited three step-children, Delona (Brown) Elsberry, Don Juan Brown and Darrell James Brown.

Ramona worked for over 17 years at Munsingwear, Inc. in Hominy, beginning in approximately 1964. She took early retirement from Munsingwear, and soon obtained a job at the Hominy News-Progress Newspaper in 1982. She was eventually named the General Manager of the newspaper and stayed there for 32 years, retiring at the age of 78 in 2014. During her time at Munsingwear and at the Hominy News-Progress, Ramona came to know many people who would remain her friends and whom she considered to be great blessings in her life. She loved to visit with her friends and acquaintances and it was rare to see her without a smile on her face. Ramona never missed an opportunity to spread the Lord's word through her job at the newspaper, as well as in her daily life. She was a very charitable, loving, and compassionate woman who always tried to go above and beyond to help when she saw a need. She was a woman who loved both her family and friends fiercely. If you told her you loved her, she normally replied "Love you more!" And, if she said it, she meant it! She was proud of her loved ones and never missed an opportunity to brag on them. One of Ramona's greatest blessings in her later years was spending time with her brother, Raymond, most often on the phone. They spoke daily and enjoyed telling stories about the "good old days." She also enjoyed the hours she spent on the phone with her Aunt Pauline Dobson.

Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Brown; her and Dewey's grandson, (Daniel) Jason Brown; her mother and father, Blanche Leona (Douglass) Renfro and Sammy Marshel Renfro II; sister, Faith Yvonne Renfro and by her brother, Sammy Marshel "Sonny" Renfro, III.

Survivors include daughter Janet (Nix) Cave and her husband, Larry; son Don Juan Brown and wife Terri; son Darrell James Brown and wife Becky; daughter Delona (Brown) Elsberry and husband John; brother Raymond Earl Renfro and wife Monta-Lu; grandson Micah Douglass Nix and wife Andrea; granddaughters Lori Brown, Darrah Frazier, Danya (Brown) Kokojan and husband Joe; Junae (Elsberry) Stafford and husband Jackie; grandsons Drew Brown and wife Somer; Derek Elsberry; Dustin Elsberry and wife Meri and Davis Brown. Also, step-grandson Spencer Cave and wife Kimberley and step-granddaughter Kacie (Cave) Crawford and husband David. She is also survived by 21 precious great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. In addition, "Sis" is survived by her nieces, Vickie, Tamra and JoLu, who loved her as much as she loved them.

Love was a recurring theme in Ramona's life. 1 Corinthians 16:14 says: "Do everything in love." Ramona followed the guidance of that quote on a daily basis. From the time she got up each morning to the time she went to sleep, her love for others was foremost on her mind. All those who were loved by her will carry that with them always.

Pallbearers will be Greg Renfro, Duke Renfro, Sammy "Bo" Renfro, Gordon Renfro, Dustin Denny, Jody Denny, King Bowman, Jimmie Ratliff II, Honorary: Mike Mashburn

Memorials may be given to Hominy Church of the Nazarene, 224 S. Wood Ave, Hominy, Oklahoma 74035
