Neoma Faye Hutson Aston was born on September 24, 1945, in Basile, Louisiana, to Lawrence and Lillian Hutson. She was the youngest of five children and carried with her the strong family values and love that would define her entire life. She graduated proudly from Basile High School and shared her gift of music by playing piano for several churches, something that brought her great joy.
On April 26, 1969, Neoma married the love of her life, James Perryman Aston, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Together they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and family. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with laughter, perseverance, and devotion.
Neoma had a special gift for sewing and quilting. Each quilt she made was a labor of love, carefully stitched with patience and care. To those who received them, they were more than blankets, they were pieces of her heart that will continue to comfort her family for generations to come.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. Together, Neoma and Jim raised four children: Clint Aston of Morris, Oklahoma; Sarah Jane De Leon of Fairfax, Oklahoma; Donna Jean Moore of Fairfax, Oklahoma; and Jo Ellen Sholl of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Through them, her legacy grew through her beloved grandchildren: Ronnie Dale Aston, Elizabeth Ann Aston, Andrew Jacob Robertson, B. James Moore, and Dale Perryman Sholl.
Neoma was also blessed with great-grandchildren Harley Lynn Aston, Brilane Patton, Asher Patton, Jace Perkins, Kyler Patton, Kayson Perkins, Riley Patton, Sage Moore, and Asher Dale Aston. Before her passing on March 11, 2026, she was able to welcome her great-great-grandson, Truitt Walker Morris, a blessing that brought another branch to the family tree she loved so deeply.
Neoma will be remembered for her quiet strength, her loving heart, and her unwavering devotion to those she cared about. Whether through her music, her quilting, or simply the way she loved her family, she left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, the family she built, and the love she gave so freely.
