Melvin Lee Webb, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 81 years of age.

Melvin was born October 6, 1931 at Guymon, Oklahoma, the son of Henry Augustus Guss Webb and Gladys Lillian Pauley Webb. He was a 1950 graduate of Guymon High School. He was married to Mary Jo Peace on September 27, 1952 in Clayton, New Mexico. Melvin served his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea during the Korean War.

Melvin was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Fairfax. He loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also known to be a very good cook. He also loved tending to his cattle and horses and will be remembered as a very good horseman.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo four children, Leah Gungoll and husband, Brad, of Luther, Oklahoma, Anna Jo Storey and husband, Rick, of Katy, Texas, Anthony Webb and wife, Wendy Ponca, of Fairfax, and Gus Webb, also of Fairfax one sister, Bernita Lookingbill of Elk City seven grandchildren, Wade Gungoll and wife, Bri, Will Gungoll and wife, Katy, Wyatt Gungoll, David Webb, Ashley Webb, Keli Webb and Mark Webb 10 great grandchildren other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents one son, Mark Webb in 1964 two sisters, Ethel Ruth Baker and Lavonna Mitchell and one brother, Marvin Webb.

A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bruce Brosnahan presiding. Interment will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be Wade Gungoll, David Webb, Mark Webb, Tim Watts, Jeff Watts and John Watts.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Webbs name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 333 South 8th Street, Fairfax, Oklahoma 74637.
