Margaret Rose Mason, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed away Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013 at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home. She was 92.

Margaret was born June 28, 1920 in Gray Horse, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph C. Mason and Rose MohEKahMoie Mason. She attended Oklahoma A M at Stillwater, and later worked in the clerical department for the federal government at the War Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was one of the few remaining full blood Osage tribal members. Margarets enjoyments included golfing, attending rodeos, bowling, watching football, and oil painting.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Terry Mason Moore of Fairfax, Tammy Mason Lux of Wyandotte, Archie Mason, Jr. of Tulsa, and Bennie Mason, Jr. of Moore along with a host of great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents three brothers, Archie Mason, Sr., Bennie Joe, Sr., and Clement Leroy Mason.

Osage services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax, to be followed by a funeral mass at 10:00. A rosary service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Fairfax Cemetery, with Father Bruce Brosnahan officiating a traditional Osage meal at Gray Horse immediately following.
