John Wesley Wes Hunt, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at his home. He was 89 years of age.

John was born April 27, 1922 in Garber, Oklahoma, the son of Enoch H. Hunt and Minnie Fay Porter Hunt. He attended the Middle Enterprise School. He was married to Iva JoAnn McKinney on November 7, 1945 in Winfield, Kansas. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. John was employed throughout his years at the local elevator, the Gibble Gas Station, Conoco of Ponca City, a truck driver, and had mowed many lawns in the Fairfax community. His enjoyments included fishing, gardening, wood crafting, people watching from Formbys parking lot, and joking with people. In earlier years he was a CB enthusiast and went by the CB handle Big John.

John and his wife help raise many nieces, nephews and other children. He is survived by nieces and nephews Jerry Hunt, Sharon McKinney, Mary Jo Robinson, Sherrie Lewis, Paula Dooley, Ray Hunt and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife four brothers, Harry, Willard, Leo and Harold Hunt and one sister, Edna Woodall.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Fairfax Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. George Weston presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Casket bearers will be Joey McKinney, Eric Burch, Travis Burch, Matt Hunt, Ray Hunt and Garen Kirk. Honorary casket bearers will be Bud McKinney, Justin Jones and Cameron Kirk.
