James Martin

James passed away on January 11. 2019 in Pawhuska Hospital after a long illness. James was born to Doris Crossley Martin and James Martin on January 6, 1947. He attended Burbank Schools and graduated in 1964.

James' love was family, horses, cows, and greyhound dogs. Jim went to work for Standard Industries right out of high school. He later went to work for Conoco in Ponca City. He was head grease maker and was the only one who could make HD Calcium Grease for space shuttles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Merlyn, son Dallas Martin and his wife Sherri of Burbank, son James "Jay" William Martin, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Burbank, sons: Jamie Lessert and his wife Haley of Burbank, Wade Lessert and his wife Shawn of Oklahoma City, Todd Lessert of Farmington, NM. Grandchildren: Pasia Morrison and her husband Daniel of Ponca City, Shiloh Martin and Shasta Martin of Burbank, Linen Lessert of Dallas, Nathan Lessert of Oklahoma City, Benjamin Lessert and Natalie Lessert of Farmington, Danner Lessert, Kasen Lessert, and Ladon Lessert of Burbank, Jacob Lessert of Pawhuska. Great grandchildren: Emery Morrison and Hayden Morrison of Ponca City, and Emerson Lessert of Oklahoma City. One sister Peggy Collard of Blackburn and one brother Bob Martin of Burbank, and numerous nieces and nephews.

May our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather rest in peace. We love you!


Mr. Martin will lie in state at Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home in Fairfax on Monday afternoon and all-day Tuesday. Friends and family are welcome to come pay their respects until 7 p.m. on those days.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Burbank. Burial will follow at the Burbank cemetery. Pastor Dennis Wildman will officiate the service.
Casket Bearers for the service will include Dallas Martin, Jay Martin, Jamie Lessert, Justin Cannon, Nathan Lessert, and Jake Lessert.
