James Lee Carter, 76, of Fairfax, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 in the Northwest Specialty Hospital of Enid.
Jim was born on August 2, 1935 in Chandler, OK to Ralph Henry and Gladys Lee Carter. Jim grew up in the Fairfax area graduating from Fairfax High School in 1954. Jim attended Central State College in Edmond, OK. Served in the U.S. Army, attended the First Christian Church in Fairfax and was a member of the Grayhorse Masonic Lodge 124 of Fairfax. Jim was married to Barbara Whaley on June 22, 1962 in Fairfax.
Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, anything to do with the outdoors, fixing and building things and working with tools. Jim enjoyed reading especially Louis LAmour books which he read at least twice. Jim was a retired insurance adjuster. Jim and Barbara loved to travel in their motorhome.
Jim was preceded in death by his Mother and Stepfather Milton and Gladys Waller and his Aunt Pauline Buchanan. Jim is survived by his wifeBarbara Ann, children Dawn and Cris Carrico of Aurora, CO., Cheryl Carter of Sugarland, TX. Scott Carter of Denver , CO. Brother and SisterInLaw Clinton and Beverly Carter of Pittsburg, KS. Grandchildren Jeff Jenna Williams, Justin Brooke Williams, Jillian Williams and Kaitlen Collora. Great GrandchildBrielle Williams.
Graveside Funeral Services will be 10:30, Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Pavilion of Fairfax Cemetery with George Weston and Gary Holt officiating.
