Henry Vinson

Henry Clayton Vinson, longtime Fairfax resident, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home. He was 84.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church, Fairfax, OK. Burial will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.

Henry Clayton Vinson was born on June 16, 1931 to Riley Vinson and Thelma Codington Vinson in Blue Mountain, AR. He moved to this area in the fall of 1948 where he worked at various jobs and discovered his love for raising cattle. He could spend hours with his cattle and never tire of watching and caring for them. He loved the outdoors and his family.

He married his wife Minnie on July 1, 1952. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Vonda and Brenda.

Through the years Clayton worked for two full-service gas stations in Fairfax owned by Roy Hurt and Arie Taylor. He was also employed by the Tip Asher Corporation as a Production Manager in the oilfield. He loved this job and had many great stories to tell of his time in the oilfield.


Clayton is survived by his wife of the home, Minnie Vinson, two daughters, Vonda Hawkins and husband Dale of Ralston and Brenda Broughton and husband Steve of Pawhuska. He has five grandchildren: Mellissa Villademoro, Michael Rice, Kylie Cunningham, Alicia Endl and Tug Broughton. He has twelve great-grandchildren, all of which live in this area. He has one living sister, Betty Cowan of Fairfax and brother, Nathan Vinson of Houston, TX.

Clayton as preceded in death by his father, Riley Vinson, mother, Thelma Mozell Codington Vinson, sister, Bertha Phelps, and brother James Monroe Vinson.


Clayton was known by many names, Clayton, Henry C. Daddy, Grandpa, Pops, and Pa Clayton. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends.
