Gordon Paul Figie, longtime resident of Shidler, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Hillcrest Heart Hospital in Tulsa. He was 87 years of age.

Gordon was born June 26, 1924 at Syracuse, New York, the son of Oscar Frank Figie and Ellen Eva Nemitz Figie. He was a graduate of the Central Square, New York High School and served in the New York State Guard. He was married to Elfrieda Muth in June of 1948. Gordon had worked for the State of New York as a Highway Inspection Engineer. He was married to Ella E. Christian on June 1, 1963 in Central Square. The couple moved to the Shidler Community where Gordon began cowboying with Ellas brother, Fuss Christian.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Shidler where he had served as a board member for several years. He was also a member of the Musicians Hall of Honor in New York State and past vicepresident of the Old Timers Fiddlers Association. He had played at the Oklahoma Jubilee in Shidler for all the years of its existence and also had played at the Ponca City Senior Citizens events on many occasions. His enjoyments were his music, leather tooling, hunting and small engine repair.

He is survived by three daughters, Pauline Coon and husband, Clyde, of Shidler, Charlotte Allen of Conroe, Texas, and Francine Hoffman and husband, Larry, of Winter Park, Florida one son, Gordon G. Figie of Shidler six grandchildren, Patrik and Howard Cornett, Michael Beige, Dayna and Carley Ulmer and Jamie Hoffman 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his two wives and one brother, Leonard Frank Figie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Shidler with Pastor Doug Scott presiding. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Casket bearers will be Patrik Cornett, Clyde Coon, Lamar West, Kenny Sayler, Blain Peters and Raymond Smith. Honorary casket bearers will be Dwight Christian, Brian Lackey, Michael Belge and Howard Cornett.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Figies name to Alzheimer Research in care of the Alzheimer Association of Oklahoma, 6465 South Yale Avenue, Suite 312, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136.
