Geraldine Forbes

Geraldine Inez Forbes former resident of Ralston and Ponca City, passed this life on Friday morning, September 3, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She had reached the age of 88 years and 2 days.

Geraldine was born September 1, 1922 at Wilson, Oklahoma, one of nine children born to Joseph E. Rice and Effie Cassandra Stark Rice. Her early education was received in the Burbank, Oklahoma schools. She was married to Harold James Forbes on October 17, 1940 in Pawhuska. The couple established their first home in the Big Bend Community West of Ralston where they became charter members of the Big Bend Baptist Church and later members to the First Baptist Church of Ralston.

Geraldine was a longtime homemaker that enjoyed her family, her church and church family, watching sports, sewing and baking.

She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Ann Forbes Epperson and husband, Bob, of Ponca City, Linda Sue Forbes Snead, Edmond, Oklahoma and Rebecca Joy Forbes White of Ralston one brother, Kenneth Rice and wife, Norma, of Masham one sister, Minnie Jo Cales and husband, Robert, of Tulsa four grandsons three granddaughters and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Effie her husband, Harold, on January 12, 1995 two great granddaughters, Samantha Del Chrisman and Abigayle Faith Epperson three brothers, Algie, Ervin and Dale three sisters, Lucille Goad, Vida Peters and Gracie Cary.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Ralston First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Ralston Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
