With the call from Uncle Sam sounding loudly he joined the local Army National Guard in Fairfax. In 1971, he was honorably discharged, grateful not to have been called to active duty in Vietnam.
At the start of his career, he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron painting water towers⚊ he took a long fall one day ending his painting career. Afterwards he worked for numerous companies as a Teamster on the pipeline both driving trucks and handling parts and equipment. He spent many years away working but often came back home to visit his family and friends.
From an early age, Kent loved the great outdoors fishing, quail hunting and later riding his Harley Davidson. Multiple years, he attended Bike week in Daytona Beach, Florida, also known as the World’s Largest Motorcycle Event. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Fairfax and the Ralston American Legion Post #333.
