Gene Phelps

Gene Phelps, resident of Fairfax, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home. He was 74.

Gene was born March 19, 1936 at Kingfisher, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Phelps and Bessie Hawkins Phelps. His early education was in the Stilwell, Oklahoma schools. He was employed in earlier years in road construction where he helped in building bridges. He later had worked for Jay Warner in Ponca City. He was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Church in Fairfax. His enjoyments included fishing, camping, attending church and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Robbie Phelps of Fairfax, Dean Phelps of Shidler, Frankie Sayler, Bess Brown and Willa Cowan, all of Ponca City 2 nieces and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents one nieces and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
