Gary was born on April 30th, 1941 in Dennison, Texas the only child of Harley and Jessie (Donavon) Moore. This is where his father was employed by the Dennison Dam. Gary grew up in Burbank and remained there his entire life, as did his parents and grandparents. Gary’s paternal grandfather made the Oklahoma land run in 1893, and then relocated to Burbank to work in the oilfield.

Gary was a member of the Osage Nation. Gary graduated from Burbank High School in 1960 where he met the love of his life, Minnie Pearl Bonner. Gary and Minnie were married on May 10th, 1960 just prior to their high school graduation and were married 63 wonderful years. Gary then graduated from Oklahoma State, Okmulgee and then continued his education at Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Education. They were blessed with two sons, Jerry Don and Terry Wayne of Burbank.

Gary worked as a mechanic, pumper for an oil company, an Osage County truck driver, then taught auto mechanics at Shidler High School where he retired in 1994. Highlights of Gary’s retirement were hearing from former students.

He was active in the Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Gary served his community by sitting on the Burbank School Board, an officer of the Burbank Alumni Association, the Town of Burbank Board of Trustees, and the Mayor of Burbank. Gary retired from the Burbank Volunteer Fire Department after serving 21 years.

Gary and Minnie loved following their sons to all their various sports, 4-H activities, and boy scout events. They also enjoyed supporting their grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. Gary was especially thankful for Joyce Moore, who spent every Sunday evening watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.
