Fairfax, OK

Gary Dewayne Madison left for heaven early Saturday morning on December 20, 2025. He came to this earth on June 2, 1949. Born to Norma Lee Kinney-Madison and Glen Leroy Madison in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He spent his early life there with his beloved siblings Carol and Earl Madison before moving to Seminole, Oklahoma where Gary started the first grade. His family eventually moved to Eureka, Kansas where he finished his 8th grade year. The next year Glen’s job at Phillips moved them to Little Chief, Oklahoma where he spent his high school years as a Fairfax Red Devil. Here he made many friendships that would last a lifetime. Gary loved sports all his life. He played basketball, baseball, and track. Gary graduated highschool in 1968 and went on to NOC Tonkawa for two years. During this time, he enjoyed coaching the twelve and under baseball team with Doyle Heath. He found great pride in helping coach this team to state before going on to Northwestern college. Graduating with a degree in social science and physical education.

Northwestern was where he met the beautiful love of his life, Diana Foster. They were married October 6, 1973 in her hometown Nash, Oklahoma. The couple began their lives together in Enid, Oklahoma. At this time, Gary worked in K-Mart as a department head. He soon took a job at AVCO finance company where he worked as the assistant manager.

This job would transfer him to Overland Park, Kansas where he was baptized and saved by his lord and savior Jesus Christ. After a year, Gary was transferred again to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Six months later he decided to move them to Fairfax, Oklahoma where he and Diana would spend the rest of their lives together. He began working at Halliburton in 1975. This year was when he and Diana joined the First Osage Baptist Church. For twelve years he would work in the oil field for Halliburton. During this time he became the very proud father of Ryan, Casey, and Lance Madison. In 1993 he would begin a job at Ditchwitch where he would work until his retirement in 2011.

Throughout his life Gary made many accomplishments. He served as a deacon since 2000. In his church he also helped teach preschool, was Sunday school superintendent, a member of the building and grounds committee, a bus driver of many years, a singer in the choir and quartet, and served as a custodian for twenty years. Gary touched many lives in his community. He served on the Woodland school board for twelve years and at the Grayhorse Masonic Lodge.

If you know Gary, you know he was an avid OU Sooners fan. He also enjoyed watching and playing golf. He was the first person to hit a hole in one at the Pawnee, Oklahoma golf course. Gary loved the holidays and his lovely Christmas village which he made into a longtime hobby. He was an American history buff and enjoyed collecting coins and books on World War 2. But, his greatest hobby was being a Papa. His greatest joy was his nine grandchildren.
