Gary "Coach K" Klopp longtime Coach and educator in Fairfax, OK has passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 in Tulsa, Ok. He was 72 years of age. Gary was born on May 19, 1943 in Ponca City, OK to Edgar C. and Veeva M. Jordan Klopp.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Woodland Cougars Gymnasium with Pastor Russell Hughes, George Weston and Brian Doyle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Gary grew up in Ponca City attending Lincoln and Washington Elementary serving as School street patrol, Hall Monitor, Cub Scouts, Presbyterian youth Choir and playing baseball. Coach K went to East Junior high and that is where the coaching bug bit him while he was playing Football, Basketball and track, He credits Coach Bob McCartney for giving him the desire to become a coach. When Gary went on to high School he lettered in Football and baseball for 3 years. Upon graduation he received an offer to play Football and baseball combination scholarship in Emporia, KS but he turned it down to play football and baseball at N.O.C. while undergoing his first knee surgery. He later attended the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR thanks to Dr. Arthur Young. His fifth year of College he was a student scout for Football and Baseball. Coach K started coaching in Detroit TX and he served in several programs in Kansas and in the summer of 1972 he received his Master's degree from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK and then he headed back to coaching in KS. In 1975 Coach K came to the Fairfax community and he taught, coached and served as Athletic Director until 2004. He served the Fairfax school system for 29 years. Coach K's passion in Life was to make a difference in young man or woman's life. He was a dedicated educator and Coach while developing the athletic program. Coach K's teams won 5 state Championships in Football along with 4 semifinals and numerous quarter finals. One state tournament in Baseball as head coach in 1986.
Survivors include: 2 brothers: Darryl Klopp and wife Carole of Ponca City, OK and Duane Klopp and wife Kim of Collinsville, OK Nephews; Douglas Klopp and son Drew, Dustin Klopp and wife Bethany and Devin Klopp 1 niece; Laura Klopp and daughter Jordan and son Jacob. Also surviving are his loyal Cats; Tiger, Sweety, Momma, Midnight and numerous adopted past students.
Coach K was preceded in death by his parents, his dog Czar and his Cats Taylor, Brody, and Mychelle.
