Franklin "Frank" E Haines, retired City employee, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with his daughters at his side. He was 83 years young.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 9am-8pm on Wednesday, January 24.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Full Gospel Assembly with Pastor Lewis Bernard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery under the care of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax, OK.
Frank was born in Colorado on November 24, 1934 the son of the late Aaron McCord Haines and Pearl Elizabeth (Gallatin) Haines. He was raised and attended schools in the Fairfax area. In the spring of 1958, he enlisted in the Army and after serving two years was honorably discharged on April 15, 1960 at Fort Hood, Texas. He always said, "The best thing about Texas was Interstate 35 coming out!"
He married Betty L. (Melton) Haines on October 25, 1960 in Pawnee, OK. The couple made their home in Fairfax and had been married for 57 years when Betty passed on October 14, 2017.
Frank worked for the town of Fairfax as a former policeman, certified Civil Defense storm spotter, licensed water operator and in the city gas department. In his younger years, he was known as the "Blue Flame" later becoming "Fairfax 9". He also worked at Summy's Wrecker Service, D & P Tank Trucks and after retiring at Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.
His love for the Lord was shown by his faithfulness in attendance at the Full Gospel Assembly where he was a member and deacon. He also was a past member of the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department and the Fairfax Jaycees.
His enjoyments included: working with his hands; raising cattle; fishing; golfing; attending Red Devil football games; watching OU football games and helping anyone he could. He and wife Betty enjoyed driving around the countryside as well as cruising around town, stopping occasionally to visit with family and friends along the way.
Survivors include his two daughters, Debbie and (Darryl) Looney, Shelia Buckner; six grandchildren, Cortney Keil, Hannah Looney, Savannah Looney, Joseph Buckner, Heidi Buckner and Zak Buckner; great grandson Jaxon Keil; "Adopted" son, Lewis Bernard and family; "Adopted" daughter, Cheryl McDaniel all of Fairfax; two sisters, Virgie Haines of Ponca City and Lorraine McNairy of Augusta, KS; sister-in-law, Geraldine Linder of Arkansas/Fairfax; many nieces, nephews and a host of church family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; five brothers: Charles, Joe, Clifford "Buck", Fred and Max Haines; three sisters: Judy Waller, Martha Louise "Sis" Keck, and Geneva Louia.
Pallbearers are Joseph Buckner, Joe Buckner, Luke Bernard, Joey Rogers, Jim Ed Mashburn and Howard "Hobie" Robertson
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James Graham, John Summy, Bob Paslay, Darryl Looney, Zak Buckner, David Haines, Dyke Boone, Randy Wilson, Eric Burch, Drew Harrison and All the members of the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department.
The family has requested monetary donations be made in Frank's name to: Full Gospel Assembly, Attn: Candace Rogers at 435 S Hunsaker, or Fairfax Pool Improvement Committee, Attn: Jami Burgess at Security State Bank PO Box 427, both in Fairfax OK 74637.
Appreciation goes out to Deanna Buckner, Cheryl McDaniel and his grandchildren for all the love and care they have given Frank when his daughters were unable to be with him.
