Frances Eloise Mitchell, lifelong resident of the Ralston and Fairfax communities, passed on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Fairfax Nursing Home. She was 81 years of age.

Eloise was born April 5, 1933 in Fairfax, the daughter of William Ray Betts and Lora L. Kirk Betts. She was a 1952 graduate of Fairfax High School. She was married to Wayne C. Mitchell Jr. on April 12, 1952 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in the Big Bend community where they have since lived for the past 62 years.

Eloise was a homemaker that enjoyed hosting family dinners, quilting, crocheting and needlework. In earlier years she was very active on the farm helping Wayne with farming and the cattle. She was also known for her good cooking that included cooking every kind of wildlife Wayne would bring home. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairfax, the Fun Club and Eastern Star 50 year pin recipient.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne, of the home two sons, Wayne Ray Mitchell of Burbank and Mike Mitchell and wife Kim, of Perkins, Oklahoma four grandchildren, Kimetha Bennett and husband Donnie, of Fairfax, William Mitchell of the Big Bend, Matthew Mitchell and wife Micah of Bartlesville, and Jeffrey Mitchell and wife, Kanessa, of Stillwater eleven great grandchildren one niece, Lori Flores of Tulsa one nephew, Clint Mills of Tulsa one great niece, Kari Hart of Wichita, Kansas numerous other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Mills in 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfax with Rev. George Weston presiding. Interment will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home.

Casket bearers are Dr. Gary Funk, Terry Dooley, Donald Crabtree, Cliff Keeler, Greg Goad and David Goad. Honorary casket bearers are Larry Dooley and Forrest Keeler.
