Eva Donovan

March 1, 1952 — January 17, 2020

On the quiet, serene morning of Friday, January 17, 2020, the beautiful spirit of Eva Donovan ascended to Heaven.  She was 67 at the time of her ascent and had been a resident of the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home in Fairfax, Oklahoma for the past two years.
Eva I. (Wallace) Donovan was born on Saturday, March 1, 1952 in Dalhart, Texas to Leonard Arthur “L.A.” and Christine (McNutt) Wallace ⎯ the 6th of seven girls.  As a youngster, she attended schools in Amarillo Texas.   Eva was reborn April 15th, 1973 in Plainview, Texas.
Eva met and married Jesse C. Donovan.  The two begun their journey as husband and wife on Thursday, September 15, 1977 in Altus, Okla., making their first home in Amarillo, Texas.  They owned and operated a convenience store in Burbank before moving to Fairfax in 1991.  They had shared 20 blessed years of marriage when Jesse passed on May 7, 1998.
Eva worked as a Certified Dietary Supervisor in the kitchen at the nursing home for several years.  She took great pride in pleasing the residents with delicious meals and her gracious, caring attitude.  Later, she spent the rest of her working career as a waitress at the Roller Inn Café.  Her duties often included running the cash register as well as keeping customers happy.  She had a collection of beautiful wigs and would surprise everyone by wearing a different wig each day.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Burbank.  She also served her communities in various roles, such as Burbank 4-H Leader, Shidler-Web City Extension Homemakers, American Legion Auxiliary (Huff-Minor) and the Burbank Vol. Fire Department Auxiliary.  Among her many interests were playing any game of chance; preparing yummy home-made meals; and spoiling her grandkids as much as possible.  Most of all, Eva loved her Lord and family dearly.
In more recent years, she enjoyed being the right arm for her beloved companion, Leon Hendrix.  Together, they worked countless hours preparing for the annual Veteran’s Day Parade.  Eva assisted Leon with the parade, followed by a delicious meal which she faithfully prepared each year herself.  The menu included your choice of stew or beans, cornbread and scrumptious desserts.  After the meal, numerous giveaways donated by local individuals and merchants were presented to the Veterans.  A time of visitation completed the day.
Eva’s legacy includes her two sons, Kevin (Tara) Brackett of Bartlesville and Gary Brackett of Elk City, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Timothy Brackett, Kristin Brackett, Kevin Brackett II, Dale Brackett, Jordan Elam, Niles Brackett, Frankie Brackett, Dyson Brackett and Emery Brackett; eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Remington, London, Chanel, Brody, Cheyenne, Kirby and Ryker.  She also leaves behind two sisters, Donna (Paul) Henderson and Peggy Walker all of Amarillo, Texas; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva’s parents; husband Jesse; sisters, Betty Hughes, Sue George, Carole Hoyo, and infant sister, Linda Cheryl Wallace preceded her in death.
A time of visitation will be 12 noon to 8pm on Thursday, January 23 at Hunsaker Wooten Chapel.  Funeral Service will be held 2pm, Friday, January 24, also at the Chapel with Pastor Dennis Wildman of the Burbank Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial to follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Timothy Brackett, Kevin Brackett II, Ronnie Shannon, Dustin Moore, Timmy Goodfox and Devon Mashburn.  Honorary pallbearers are Dale Brackett, Leon Hendrix, Craig Marrs, Steve McNutt and Trey George.
Arrangements are under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.  Eva’s online guestbook maybe signed at
