Carole Ann Cox, longtime Fairfax resident passed away on January 25, 2017 in Tulsa OK at the age of 78.

Born on April 29, 1938 to Clarence Pharis King and Anna Faye (Johnson) King in Fort Worth Texas, she attended school at Ft Worth Elementary before moving to Tulsa in 1953. Following graduation in 1955 from Will Rogers High School, she contracted as a Tulsa Downtowner Magazine model and worked as a researcher for the Tulsa Abstract and Title Co.

Carole married Thomas Arthur Cox Jr. on August 28, 1973 in Miami OK. They made their home in Pawnee and later moved to Fairfax. In her early adult life she earned a degree from NOC in Tonkawa before being hired by the Pawnee Tribe as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. In the early 90's the couple began caring for foster children in their home. Arthur passed in April of 1997.

At age 67, Carole married Michael Ray Nicholson on March 18, 2006 in Siloam Springs AR. The couple spent the next 3 days exploring the sights and attractions of Branson MO. Carole specifically enjoyed the Amphibious Duck Ride on Table Rock Lake. She provided Mike with a loving home and countless fabulous meals as they raised their children. When she received the many compliments on her cooking, Carole beamed with pride, blushing just a little bit.

Her enjoyments included fishing; raising and care for animals with special interest in horses; gardening in her early years; quilting; thrift shopping with her dear friend, Joy Sparks and traditional cooking for countless Tribal Ceremonies and Events. Carole spent the majority of her life helping and loving others in need. More than 30 foster children spent time in her home, some of which became family.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Nicholson of the home; children: Cheryl and Mark Swartout of Elmsprings AR, Brenda Cason of Fairfax, Lori Crist of Tulsa OK, Robert and Kim Vaughn of St. Louis MO, Boa and Christina Cox of Fairfax, Kaylyn Kelley of Ponca City OK, Mitzi Moore of Pawnee OK, Tasha Cox of Fairfax OK, Alexis Cox of Tallahassee FL, Tiffany Morgan of Pawnee, Hailie Nicholson and Hayden Nicholson of the home. Stepchildren: Tim Cox of Ralston OK, Mark Cox of Lawton OK, Tom Cox of Perkins OK and Theresa Cox of Fairfax. Twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson, Maddox Preston Sidon. One sister, Sharon and M.O. Roberts of Dallas TX; one uncle, Roy and Velma Johnson of Everman TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Anna King; husband, Thomas A. Cox Jr.; grandson, Anthony Dysart and great grandson, Nicholas Seamans.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church at Fairfax OK with Pastor Richard Ayers, officiating. Interment will follow in the Grayhorse Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include husband, Michael Nicholson; grandsons, John Cason, Brian Cox, Dylan Cox, Braiden Watkins and friend, David Hazen. Honorary Pallbearer, J. Berry Harrison.
