Billy Gene Thomason nicknamed BJ or Joe, a longtime resident of Fairfax Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Billy Gene was born March 17, 1942 in Shidler, Oklahoma he was the son of W.H. Bill Thomason and Lula Mae Marley Thomason. Billy was a former Red Devil of Fairfax High School and graduated in 1961. He attended Okmulgee Tech in the automechanic school and completed his training in 1962. Billy Gene was 71 years and 9 months of age.
On March 3, 1963 he married Sharon Sue Rogers of Ralston Oklahoma. Billy and Sharon enjoyed 50 years of marriage.
Billy Gene worked in the following areas: the Oil Field, Getmans Auto Supply, Mongers Auto Parts, Beuchler Auto Parts Supply, and Osage County. He retired from the Osage County in 1996.
Billy loved his kids and grandchildren very much. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, shooting guns, and riding his fourwheeler.
Billy was preceded in death by his father: Bill Thomason, grandparents: Effie and Happy Marley, and Emma and Millard Thomason.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Thomason, of the home his mother, Lula Mae Thomason of Fairfax his children Marla Cox and her husband Mark of Lawton, Oklahoma, son Derrik Thomason and Sherri of Pawnee Oklahoma, and daughter Dayna Burnette and husband Brian of Freeport Florida 8 grandchildren, Stephanie Cox Pinkston, Jordan Cox, Erica Thomason, Taylor Thomason, Dillon Wilson, Candace Ryan, Kailey Ryan, and Kelsey Boitel, and great granddaughter Scout Pinkston, and his two four legged best friends Happy and Maddy Ann, several cousins, many friends and other extended relatives.
Casket bearers will be: David Clapp, Danny Hazen, Dennis Hutcheson, Larry Hutcheson, Ray Pasley, and Henry Johnston. Honorary casket bearers are: Honorary pallbearers Kenny Hazen, Don Wilson, Bill Lytle, Dr. James Graham, Gary Madison, Eddie Beartrack, Ty Koch, Dale Brewer, and Terry and Larry Dooley.
Billy Gene will be at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home. Visitation will be open to family and friends from. His celebration of life services will be held at the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax, Oklahoma at 10 am Thursday, December 19, 2013 with Rev. George Weston presiding. Graveside services will follow at the Fairfax Cemetery.
