Fairfax

Betty L. (Melton) Haines went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2017. She was 77 years old. She was born to Bill and Ora May (Gann) Melton on April 25, 1940 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

The family came to the Fairfax Oklahoma community in 1945, where she attended both Grayhorse and Fairfax Schools, graduating with the Red Devil Class of 1960. Following high school, Betty married Franklin E. Haines on October 25, 1960 at Pawnee, Okla. Two daughters, Debbie and Shelia, which they raised in Fairfax, completed their family.

Betty worked at Blucher Boot Company; as a CNA at the Fairfax Nursing Home on Eighth Street and followed the move to the current day location of the Fairfax Manor. After working in the health care field for over twenty years, Betty retired in 2001, to enjoy life with her family which now included grandchildren.

She enjoyed crocheting; working crossword puzzles; working in the yard in her flower beds; she loved going out-of-town shopping with all her "girls"; attending church at the Full Gospel Assembly; and taking care of her family, with special care given to Frank the last few years.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Frank of the home; daughters: Debbie and (Darryl) Looney, Shelia Buckner; six grandchildren: Cortney Keil, Hannah Looney, Savannah Looney, Joseph Buckner, Heidi Buckner, and Zak Buckner; one great grandson, Jaxon Keil all of Fairfax. One sister, Geraldine Linder of Arkansas/Fairfax; one brother, Don Melton of California and one aunt, Willis Hood of Fairfax; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Charles Melton, Roy Melton, Floyd Melton and Larry Melton; one sister, Jenny Blackburn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, October 19, 2017, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church with Brother Lewis Bernard, presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.
