Barbara Ann Goad

Barbara Ann Goad, longtime resident of the Big Bend community, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. She was 79 years and 8 days of age.

Ann was born November 12, 1933 at the Sodersgrom Place in rural Burbank, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Claude and Helen Lyon Christenson. She attended the first 11 grades at Burbank and then graduated from Ralston High School in 1951. She married Forrest Eugene Frosty Goad on October 13th, 1951 in Burbank. The couple had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary prior to Mr. Goads death on October 14th. The couple began their married life farming and ranching not far from where Frosty was born and raised. To their union was born four children, David Eugene, Gregory Alan, Beverly Ann and Carl Bradley.

In her earlier years Ann took great joy in following her children and grandchildren as they played basketball, as she was a very good basketball player in her years at Burbank and Ralston. She later completed nursing school and was an LPN, having worked at the Fairfax Nursing Home, Fairfax Hospital, Pawnee Nursing Home and as a nurse for Dr. Hansel Ratliff. Ann loved working in her yard, mowing and keeping it well groomed. She also enjoyed keeping her home in order and providing for her family. Ann will always be remembered for her great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Ralston Bible Church and loved serving the Lord. She was well read in the scriptures and could recite by memory many many scripture verses.

She is survived by her four children, Dave Goad and wife, Sandye, of Ralston, Greg Goad and wife Vonda, of Ralston, Beverly Day and husband Joe, of Pawnee, and Carl Goad and wife Connie, of Ralston ten grandchildren, Joe Craig, DanYel, Sarah, Kristi, Suni, Carrie, Lauren, Brady, Lindsay and Casey fourteen great grandchildren with three more on the way one brother, Dale Christenson and wife, Helen, of Pawhuska one sister, Sue Mitchell, of Broken Arrow sisterinlaw, Trelma Rowden and husband, Chuck brotherinlaw, Larry Goad and wife, Nancy numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents her husband one grandson, Ben Almand one brotherinlaw, Roy Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Ralston Bible Church with former pastor Roy Emmons Sr. presiding, assisted by Rev. Roy Emmons Jr. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Pixley Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Casket bearers are grandsons Joe Craig Day, Brady Goad, Casey Goad, Sean Swafford, Ben Gerber and Keith Rogers. Honorary casket bearers are Mark Carter, Robert Thompson Jr., Danny Graham and Matt Haney.
