Charles Crabtree   I am a Veteran.
July 29, 1933  -  June 28, 2017

Charles Wayne Crabtree, long-time Fairfax area resident, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 following a brief stay at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma. He was 83.

Born to Vernon Ardell and Zula Grace (Hood) Crabtree on July 29, 1933 in Havana Arkansas, he was the third of five children. In 1940, the family moved to the Big Bend Area in Osage County west of Ralston Oklahoma where they farmed and raised cattle. As a young boy Charles and his brothers helped run the farm machinery, working ground for the crops. He attended school at the first Woodland School located west of Ralston and later continued his education at Fairfax High School, graduating with the Red Devil class of 1953. He enlisted in the armed forces serving his country in the U.S. Army before being honorably discharged in 1955.

Charlie married the love of his life, Edith Elizabeth (Infield) Crabtree on December 21, 1956 in Pawhuska OK. Briefly, they lived in Tulsa before moving to Sand Springs where Chuck was born. The family moved to Fairfax in 1959. In April 1960, Charlie went to work as a city letter carrier at the Fairfax Post Office. After twenty-seven years, he retired in 1987. During his postal career, his city route included distribution to both residential and business customers resulting in Charles being well-known around town.

He owned and operated Crabtree Electric. His work as an electrician also took him to numerous homes and businesses as he worked to install electrical wiring and make all types of electrical repairs.

He was never happier than when talking politics over a cup of coffee with his buddies at local businesses, always quick to offer his political opinion. Charlie was also quick to offer a hand to folks in need. He loved his family and was so proud of them all. Pleased by his youngest son, Todd, who continued his legacy by choosing a career as an electrician and grandson, Jake, choosing a career in the Air Force serving his country.

Charlie will be greatly missed by his loving family; wife, Edith Crabtree of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Lisa Crabtree, Todd and Susan Crabtree; grandchildren, Jake and Erin Crabtree, Cody and Charlie Dawn Nieman, Adam Crabtree and Shiloh Purkey; great grandchildren and the light of his life, Jolie Crabtree, Bryton Crabtree; one sister, Juanita Logsdon; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Marylou Crabtree; sister-in-law, Nadine Crabtree; countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby Nell Crabtree; brother, Billy Crabtree; and brothers-in-law, Donald Gilliland and Uriel Logsdon.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home on Friday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, July 3, 2017, 9 a.m. to noon.
