Born on July 5, 1959 to Darrel Stevens and Patty Hanning Stevens in Fairfax, Oklahoma, Albert Dean Stevens went home to be with his Heavenly father on Saturday, October 7th, 2017, in Katy, Texas. He left us at the early age of 58 due to sudden cardiac death.

Al graduated from Hammond Baptist High School in 1977 and went on to Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, LA where he worked hard to put himself through school. Receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1983, he used this knowledge to impact many students through the coaching of several sports, with football being his favorite. Impacting lives is what Al did best, not just through coaching, but through ministering to both young and old alike. His heart’s desire was to make a difference, and his family members, friends, and former athletes join together in saying a difference maker is what Al was!

Al is survived by his spouse, Sharon Tharpe Stevens; children, Heather Stevens Turner and husband Joseph Turner, Natalie Stevens, Abigale Paul Stevens, Bryan Paul and wife DeeDee Paul and Brandon Paul; his mother, Patty Stevens Plummer; six grandchildren, J.J. Turner, Alexsa Turner, Jolie Turner, Myranda Paul, Mia Watson and Jamie Toups; siblings; Robin Stevens Smith and husband Ronnie Smith, Rick and wife Ann Jones and James Jones. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his sunshine, Annalee Duncan.

Family members that Al is joining in Heaven are his father, Darrel Stevens; his brother, Ronnie Stevens; his brother, L.D. Jr Jones; his step-father, L.D. Jones and many more.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2pm at the New Hope Christian Fellowship in Fairfax, Oklahoma. The services will be under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home. A memorial celebrating Al’s life will be held in Shreveport, Louisiana at Baptist Tabernacle on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11am.
